Folded is a wardrobe kept on your phone. Almost nothing you put into it ever leaves the device.
There are no accounts, no servers of ours, and no analytics. Your photographs, your clothes, your saved looks and the details you enter during setup are stored on your phone and nowhere else. Only two things ever leave the device: your approximate location, to fetch the weather, and — only if you choose to join the Folded letter — your email address, sent to the service that delivers it.
All of this lives in the app's own storage on your phone. It is not uploaded, backed up to us, or shared with anyone. We cannot see any of it.
Weather. If you allow location access, Folded sends your coordinates to Open-Meteo to look up the current temperature and conditions, so outfit suggestions match the day. The request contains only those coordinates. No name, no device identifier, nothing else. If you deny location access, Folded uses a default and everything else keeps working.
The Folded letter. If you join the monthly letter — during setup, or later from Settings — your email address is sent to Kit, the service we use to deliver it. Kit stores it on our behalf and uses it for nothing except sending you the letter; their handling of it is covered by Kit's privacy policy. Only the address is sent. Your name, birthday and everything about your wardrobe stay on the phone. If you skip the letter, nothing is sent at all.
That is the complete list. Folded's typefaces are bundled inside the app rather than fetched from a font service, so nothing else is contacted when you open it, and the app works with no signal at all.
Every one of these is optional. Decline any of them and the rest of the app still works.
When you share a closet receipt or export a backup, the file is created on your device and handed to the iOS share sheet. You choose where it goes. Folded does not send it anywhere on your behalf.
Deleting a piece removes it from your closet immediately. Deleting the app from your phone removes everything Folded has stored, permanently. None of that ever reached us, so there is nothing for you to request from us and nothing for us to erase.
The one exception is the letter. Every letter carries an unsubscribe link, which removes your address from the list straight away. If you would rather we delete it entirely, write to the address below and we will.
folded.style sets no cookies, runs no scripts and has no analytics, so there is nothing to consent to. Its typefaces are served from the site itself rather than from a font service. The pages are hosted by GitHub Pages, whose servers may record your IP address in ordinary access logs as part of serving the page; that is covered by GitHub's privacy statement. We do not see or keep those logs.
Folded is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. As above, no personal information reaches us in any case.
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it, and material changes will be noted in the app.
